Burbank Recylcing Communtiy Programs
Burbank Recycling Inc (BRI) recognizes the integral part that a recycler has to play within the community and is working hard to increase community interest and participation in recycling. A Community outreach program is at the heart of Burbank Recycling. We run a free educational center for all ages to learn about recycling, to date over 1,500 children have benefited from this. Burbank Recycling plays an active role in community events and fund raisers. Also providing recycling promotion during civic events including providing free recycling bins. In addition BRI has ran many successful marketing campaigns to promote overall recycling services.

Education Program

Mr. Folsom’s philosophy across all the facilities he has been involved in has been to involve the operation in the education of the community. Burbank Recycle Inc’s operates a Learning Center which offers exciting educational experiences for residents of all ages. Its purpose is to provide information to residents regarding the City’s waste management programs, encourage waste reduction, entertain and educate at all levels, assist in finding markets for recycled materials, and act as a clearing house for recycling information.

Approximately 1,500 school children and adults tour the Burbank Recycle Center each year, see a video, check out the worm and compost bins, see Recyclamania and other exhibits, and take away a recycled souvenir.

Free Recycling Services

During large municipal events, free recycling services will be provided. These are expected to occur several times each year.

In order to extend the connection to the community, a dedicated phone line, or “hotline” will be provided for any City of Glendale questions related to recycling/ environmental issues. This hotline will be forwarded to Burbank Recycling incorporated to be answered by one of our experiences professionals during office hours. If calls are received after office hours an answering machine will receive message for call back.

Burbank Recycling Inc. is happy to discuss the scope of this service in more detail.

Curbside Program

Expansion of the City’s curbside program to also include plastics containers #3 through #7 as well as LDPE bags.

These plastic grades are highly recyclable. BRI has been recovering and marketing #3 - #7 and LDPE plastic from single-stream curbside for more than 2 years. The commodities are in strong demand and easily recovered from the curbside stream. BRI strongly encourages the City of Glendale to add these commodities to their current list of acceptable materials.
